Frequently asked questions
Collection/delivery service
- I signed up for this service some time ago, but I still haven't heard anything. Have you forgotten me?
No, we keep an accurate list of our customers who want the motorcycle picked up. This service is used very often. This sometimes causes some waiting time. Because we collect and deliver throughout the Netherlands, it is necessary to transport several motorcycles per trip. Driving to Den Helder for a single motorcycle is not efficient. We therefore always look for a number of customers who live in a specific region for each ride. This sometimes takes some time. But rest assured, everyone who has registered on time is guaranteed to be helped. Even if due to the great interest this would fall outside the promotional period.
Oil
- How much and which oil should I put in my motorcycle?
See the Lubrication List by clicking here.
- How should I check the oil level?
Put the engine upright. Remove and clean the dipstick. Reinsert the dipstick, do not screw it in. Level should be approximately midway between min and max located. Our experience is that, with a "wet-sump" crankcase such as that of Guzzi, there is little difference between the oil level of a warm or cold engine.
- How much oil should be in the front fork?
For front forks with the separate damper (Guzzi's after the V7 up to the California 1100):
Inner tubes 34 to 38 mm : 70 ml Dextron/ATF per leg
Inner legs of 40 mm (Cal 3 and 1100) : 150ml Dextron/ATF per leg
Later types all have oil-damped front forks. Each type requires a different amount of oil.
Valve clearance
- What is the valve clearance of my Guzzi?
See the Lubrication List by clicking here.
Tyre pressure
- What is the correct tire pressure for my Moto Guzzi and/or my Triumph Motorcycle?
The following applies to almost all Triumph's and Moto Guzzis:
Front tire 2.4 bar (34.8 psi)
Rear tire 2.8 bar (40.6 psi)
Color codes
- What is the color code of the paint on my Guzzi?
Guzzi has never released color codes to dealers. However, we can spray parts in all common colors. No standard color is used. Each paint color is made on site. The results are indistinguishable from the original.
MotoPlat ignition
- My engine regularly runs on 1 cylinder and is sometimes difficult to start. What can cause that?
Running on one cylinder can have many causes. We have come across this complaint quite often in recent years with Guzzis that have a Motoplat ignition (V65 Florida, V50 NATO, California 3 and Mille GT). This ignition can be recognized by the 2 aluminum boxes (6x6x3cm) that control the ignition coils. The cabinets sometimes give up the ghost and cost approximately 200 euros/piece. Our advice is therefore to no longer invest in this system if problems arise, but to switch to a modern digital ignition system from Silent Hektik.
Other brands
- Can I also come to you with my Honda / Yamaha / other brand?
Unfortunately, that is not possible. Our workshop is fully equipped for Moto Guzzi and Triumph motorcycles. All our equipment, tools and the knowledge of our technicians are tailored to this. In addition, we only have parts from these brands in stock.
We do fit tires on individual rims of all brands!
